NEW: Phase I admission, from March 2 to 23, 2026 (see table with relevant dates)
The Master in Physics of the Universe: Cosmology, Astrophysics, Particles and Astroparticles is a 60 ECTS programme aimed at graduates who wish to specialize in the study of Cosmology, Astrophysics, Astronomy, Astroparticles, and Particle Physics, with either a theoretical–phenomenological orientation or an experimental or technological one.
The training offered by the Master’s degree is embedded in a privileged environment of unique and outstanding research. In the national and international context, Aragon stands out in this field of research. The Centre for Astroparticles and High Energy Physics (CAPA), the Canfranc Underground Laboratory (LSC), and the Centre for the Physics of the Cosmos of Aragon (CEFCA) bring together leading researchers and technologists in the areas covered by the degree. National and international projects, awards, and distinctions testify to the high level of excellence of these groups. As a result, the programme offers high-quality training that is distinct from other national and international master’s degrees, with the potential to attract students and establish the University of Zaragoza as a reference centre for education in high-energy physics, cosmology, astronomy, astrophysics, and astroparticles.
We offer a blended learning format that combines traditional face-to-face teaching with online resources, allowing courses to adapt to students’ needs at any time. For the same reasons, all courses are offered in a bilingual English/Spanish format.
Main research lines involved in the programme
- Direct detection of dark matter
- Modelling of dark matter in galaxies
- Axion physics: theory and detection
- Neutrino physics: double beta decay and neutrino mass
- Radioactivity and low-background techniques
- Development of particle detectors
- Gauge theories on the lattice
- Applications of Field Theory to quantum information and topological materials
- Standard Model phenomenology and physics beyond the Standard Model
- Theory and phenomenology of quantum gravity
- Cosmology and galaxy evolution
