This summer, CAPA commissioned its new dilution refrigerator. The Bluefors LD250 model reaches temperatures below 10 mK (about 270 times lower than the temperature of deep space) and opens up new possibilities for testing quantum technologies and studying superconducting materials.
The equipment will be a key resource for the RADES and DarkQuantum groups, which are developing quantum detectors and superconductors to search for axions, hypothetical particles considered to be possible components of dark matter.
