Six tenure track positions of Researcher in Astrophysics and Cosmology at CEFCA

The “Centro de Estudios de Física del Cosmos de Aragón” (CEFCA) invites applications for six tenure track positions of Researcher in Astrophysics and Cosmology. The positions are initially for five years, that will turn into a permanent Researcher Staff position after a positive evaluation before the end of the contract.

Successful candidates will join the Research Division at CEFCA to have a leading role in the scientific exploitation of the present and future OAJ surveys, like e.g. J-PAS and J-PLUS. The six positions aim to cover a wide range of fields in Astrophysical topics, like moving objects of the Solar System, atmospheric parameters and variability of Milky Way stars, star formation and stellar populations of spatially resolved and distant galaxies, Supernovae detection and characterization, clusters of galaxies, the environment of galaxies, supermassive black holes, etc.

The call will be permanently open until the six offered positions are awarded. The first deadline for submitting applications is Oct 15th at 23:59:59h CEST. More information can be found at the call webpage:

PhD position in Direct Dark Matter Search with Liquid Argon Detectors

The Dark Matter research group (CIEMAT-DM) of the CIEMAT-FP Unit (Centre for Research in Energy, Environment and Technology in Madrid, Spain) announces the upcoming opening of a predoctoral position for outstanding young MSc graduates interested in working in direct Dark Matter search activities towards a PhD Thesis. The 4-year PhD contract is funded by CIEMAT. The official call will be announced in the webpage in the upcoming weeks (February-March). It will also be announced at, and in social networks. The candidate must have a Master Degree in Physics (according to the Bologna Declaration).
The CIEMAT-DM group participates in the DArT experiment in the Canfranc Underground Laboratory (LSC, Spain), in DEAP-3600 (SNOLAB, Canada) and in the DarkSide-20k experiment to be installed in the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS, L’Aquila, Italy). The PhD student is expected to work in the analysis of physics data, as well as in the development of innovative hardware, detector simulation and analysis software for current and future LAr detectors. The selected student is expected to spend part of his/her time at LSC, LNGS, and other collaborating institutes worldwide.

Spanish excellence program for recruitment of senior researchers (Ramón y Cajal, Juan de la Cierva) – call now open!

The Spanish ministry offers an recruitment program with both senior postdoctoral positions (Juan de la Cierva) and tenure-track positions (Ramón y Cajal). Those programs are highly competitive, and offer attractive formulas to get established as a researcher. They are mostly based on the excellence of the candidate’s curriculum, research project and host group. The annual call is now open until the 21st January.

The research groups at CAPA continuously seek excellent candidates interested in joining them to support candidacies to these programs. Please contact us if you are interested.

Postdoctoral contract for IAXO at CAPA

The IAXO group at CAPA invites excellent young researchers with a recent PhD to apply for a 2(+1) years postdoctoral contract now available in the group, funded by the IAXO+ ERC Advanced Grant. The position is addressed to experimental profiles in astroparticle physics, and the candidate is expected to play an important role in the IAXO experiment.
