Phy6cool: Escuela de verano de Física de Partículas, Astropartículas y Cosmología

La Unidad CIEMAT – Física de Partículas convoca por primer año phy6cool, escuela de verano de Física de Partículas, Astropartículas y Cosmología. La escuela se celebrará en las instalaciones del CIEMAT (Madrid) del 13 al 17 de Julio de 2020, y está dirigida a estudiantes hispanohablantes cursando el grado de Físicas. La escuela estará compuesta de seminarios teóricos, prácticas de laboratorio, ejercicios y sesiones de orientación. El objetivo de phy6cool es proporcionar a jóvenes universitari@s interesad@s en realizar una carrera en investigación una visión general del campo de la física fundamental, una introducción al día a día del personal investigador y una orientación sobre las diversas opciones existentes de desarrollo profesional.

El plazo de inscripción permanecerá abierto hasta el 20 de Abril.

TRISEP-2020 Summer school

TRISEP is a two-week annual summer school for graduate students and junior post-doctoral fellows held this year at SNOLAB and Laurentian University from July 6 to 17 with a tour of SNOLAB on July 5.

The topics include the standard model, neutrino physics, long-baseline oscillations, neutrinoless double beta decay, physics beyond the standard model at the LHC, dark matter, dark matter scenarios and direct detection, simulation with GEANT4, and statistics.

The 1st INFN International School on Underground Physics: Theory & Experiments (SoUP 2020)

SoUP 2020 is an advanced school for PhD students, postdocs and young researchers willing to acquire deeper knowledge in topics related to underground physics. The school includes lectures and hands-on sessions on: Physics, Detectors and Instrumentation technologies.

Bad Honnef Physics School on “Axions and WISPs”

Targeted to PhD students or young postdocs working on, or with an interest in, axion research. The school aims at providing the foundations of this emerging field, or rounding the overview for those already engaged in aspects of axion research, experimentally or in theory.

It will take place from 2 to 7 August 2020, at the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef, near Bonn and Cologne, Germany. The 200€ fee includes full board and lodging.

School announcement for PhD students

The second edition of the GGI PhD School on:
“Theoretical Aspects of Astroparticle Physics, Cosmology and Gravitation”
The Galileo Galilei Institute of Theoretical Physics
Arcetri, Florence (Italy)
From March 9 to March 20, 2020

Applications can be submitted through the same web page and the deadline is January 11, 2020.
The maximum number of attendance is 40 students.
This School aims at providing robust and detailed introductions on the basic theoretical concepts and main tools to work in the field of Astroparticle Physics, Cosmology and Gravitation. The courses are organized as lectures at the blackboard in the morning and are integrated with hands-on and discussion sessions with an instructor in the afternoon.
The program of the 2020 edition is:
“Inflation and primordial black holes” – Lecturer: Chris Byrnes (University of Sussex)
“Sterile neutrinos in physics, astrophysics, cosmology” – Lecturer: Carlo Giunti (INFN and University of Turin)
“Cosmic rays and multimessenger astronomy” – Lecturer: Markus Ahlers (Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen)
“Particle dark matter: WIMPs, axions and axion-like particles” – Lecturer: Laura Covi (University of Goettingen)
The School will profit of the Galileo Galilei Institute facilities. Each student will have office space to study and discuss, with a lot of opportunities to interact with lecturers.
Accommodation in shared apartments will be provided at the cost of about 300 Euros for the whole period. Scholarships to cover this expense are available upon request. Lunch will be provided during the weekdays on the GGI premises for students and lecturers, at no cost. All the dinners and the lunches during the weekends, instead, are to be paid by the participants.
